The year is hardly a month in and already it has been harsh – we celebrated the New Year with paracetamol and pajamas as we came down with the flu. What the hell, 2012? You won’t give us a break, will you?

I’m thinking back on 2011. The year started in Saudi Arabia and ended in Paris. It was a year of chaos, and I don’t know how I was able to get through it all. But then here we all are again, still standing, with the wounds of the last year still healing. I keep telling myself to do more with my life, to read more books, to listen to more music, to watch more movies, to broaden my horizons, to look further and deeper. This is the year Lila will start school. This is the year I start driving again (got my French license ironed out, finally). This is the year of chances and changes. So don’t muck it up, don’t muck it up.

Oh dear (as Tamsin would say), hope all is well now. You say there is hope for me. So there is definitely hope for you too =)
