My mother told me that I didn’t start talking until I was 2 years old. They thought I was mute and had already sent me to the doctors for checkups.

“When you started to talk, we were so relieved,” says my father. “But then you never stopped. It was so terrible hearing your racket day in and day out. You were so damn noisy.”

(A father’s love for his daughter)

As if that wasn’t not enough, they added: “Then one day, you started crying. You cried for 2 whole days and we didn’t know what was wrong with you. We panicked and rushed you to the emergency room. The doctor gave us some medicine that made you fall asleep instantly. Whenever you’d wake up we’d give you some of the syrup. You slept for 3 days straight. It was great.”

(It’s nice to see how responsible my parents were)

Your parents already thought you’re noisy?! I should meet them ;-) My parents should have discovered that medicine for me when I was little!

    A noisy little Kala…

ha ha ha what was wrong with you? crying for 2 days? on the other hand, you were able to recover easily for sleeping 3 days in a row, grabe I would love to do that one day coz I need a complete sleep. Mayumi is terrible she wakes up 2 or 3 times in the middle of the night :-(

so this is the famous little Kala anecdote… re: sleeping antidote for babies and tots, did you know that it was usual in Austria to give beer to the babies then? funny, no?
haze: how old is mayumi and does she cry or just awake?, if i may ask. an unsolicited advice if you want, my son is 13 months old and so far he sleeps like us already. what we do is stuff him with food (dinner at half past six and a full bottle of milk two hours later) before going to sleep. soon he got used to it. other tips that i read from the magazine: giving a bath or driving the baby around…
am not sure about the last as it isn’t practical especially at night.
